The Allan Gray Makers Hub: aims to support technical and vocational businesses to grow, generate sustainable profits and create meaningful employment and value to society.

Through 8 weeks of on-campus, part-time training, followed by 12 weeks of low-touch business support, the Growth Hub equips small businesses to increase their revenue, formalise and streamline their processes and increase their number of employees.

What are Growth hubs?

Small artisan businesses that have been operating in their respective industries for at least 6 months. The Allan Gray Makers Growth Hub benefits small businesses that have not yet formlised their documentation, processes, finances and/or marketing. Business owners applying for Growth Hub need to be:

Between the ages of 20 and 49 years old in the year of application

A business owner operating in the construction-related trades industry such as plumbing, general building, building & civil works, electrical, carpentry, general maintenance & repairs, painting, tiling, welding, and landscaping services

A South African resident based in Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape with at least 18 months' experience with the intention to formalise and grow your business

Able to provide contactable references for at least 9 projects completed

Successful graduates gain access to markets as well as access to business growth funding. An undeniable benefit of the Growth Hub are the connections built within the cohorts, across cohorts and the Growth Hub professional community. Connections have lead to new business partnerships, business growth and access to markets.
