The competition consists of an easy online application form. The application process will be followed by three rounds: College Internal Rounds, Regional Rounds, and a National Grand Finale in September 2025.

Who can participate in the Allan Gray Makers Inter-College Competition?
The competition is open to students registered at any of the 50 public TVET colleges in South Africa.

No, employees at any of the 50 public TVET Colleges are not eligible to participate in the competition.

Entrants must own at least 50% of the business they are submitting for the competition.
Entries found to be incomplete, non-compliant, illegible, or submitted after the closing date may be withdrawn from consideration at the discretion of Allan Gray Makers.

No, there is no entry fee for the Allan Gray Makers Inter-College Competition.

Entrants found to have wilfully or negligently misrepresented information may be disqualified. Winners identified as having misrepresented information may be required to return prizes.
Only one member of the business can be the representative throughout the competition. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Yes, business ideas related to or existing in tobacco, firearms (excepting sporting use), alcohol, adult content, and gambling industries will not be considered.
Personal data will be used in accordance with current data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

No, entrants may not use or reference Allan Gray Makers Inter-College for commercial or promotional purposes without prior written consent.

In case of termination or amendment, entrants waive any rights against Allan Gray Makers Inter-College, and the period of the competition may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of AGIC.

Prizes will be paid by electronic transmission into a nominated bank account within 30 working days of notifying the winner.
You will receive a response from the competition coordinators. Only those accepted to participate in the Internal Rounds of the competition will be contacted. Please note that only fully completed entries will be accepted.
Unfortunately, once an entry is submitted, changes can not be made.

Participants who have received confirmation that their entries have been accepted will be shortlisted and invited to pitch their ideas or businesses in an internal university round, hosted by the coordinator/s at the college where they are registered students.

The college coordinators will communicate the date, time and format of the internal university round.
